Mix tape
Yesterday I had a very upsetting phone meeting with film commissioner about “Varma Mackor” (I’ve realised, by the way, that the English title ought to be “Toast”, not “Warm Sandwiches”), I can’t go into detail, but to put it simply and bluntly, I was verbally slapped in the face, and totally unprepared for anything of the sort, since it was supposed to be a sort of relaxed follow-up and general encouragement type of meeting, but no. And being that I’m rather stressed out about my various projects right now, on top of personal issues and worrying about my dad, I really wasn’t up for that kind of nonsense.
Today, I get an e-mail from William who’s editing the sound, bringing me up to speed with his progress and double-checking a couple of things that he’s been thinking about, I mean he’s really given the film and all of its details a great deal of thought, serious and genuine thought, and we’re on the exact same page, and he’s obviously really professional and awesome, and isn’t it horrific how that should be so rare that I’d be so overwhelmed by relief and shock to realise he is? I mean, rather than being the exception, you’d think professionalism and dedication and creativity should be the standard in this business, wouldn’t you?
