Sketching and planning
I’ve booked two day job interviews today! I sent out a bunch of emails with CV:s the other day to a number of Care and Support service places for people with special needs (There’s a term for it in Swedish — daglig verksamhet — but I can’t seem to find a good English translation. But what it is is a facility that provides different types of activities for adults with special needs, usually autism. It can be arts and crafts or day-to-day chores or social interaction, etc.)
As I’m sure I’ve mentioned before I really love working with persons with autism and/or other difficulties such as Asperger and ADHD. It gives me so much joy and inspiration, you can’t possibly imagine it. Now I’ve never worked with adults before, so that will be a new experience obviously. I don’t expect it to be as fun and rewarding as working with kids and young adults, considering I enjoy working with young people regardless of diagnosis or lack thereof way more than adults sans special needs. But I’m hoping adults with special needs will at least be a middle ground between the two. And the person-centred approach required when working with people within the autism spectrum will make it worth it. So fingers crossed!
EDIT Here’s a picture from one of the places’ websites (that’s located on–I just discovered–a street called Odd Fellow!)
Other than that, I’ve done a bit of drawing/sketching over breakfast today. I’m about to continue working on the final draft of my screenplay Black & Blue. I reckon I’ve got at least an hour before anyone comes home, so I should really make the most of that and get to it… and later on, I’ll probably head to the gym (and that will be the sixth day in a row!)
